On November 5th, 2024, the community voted yes to support an override levy that dedicates an additional $700,000 per year to Timberlake Fire Protection District.
Our area has seen a 23.4% increase in population since 2010 and approximately 4,100 new residential and commercial structures have been built. Calls have increased by 100% since 2014. With the passing of the levy, the district will add 2 full-time personnel, which will allow 2 stations to be staffed 24/7. This levy will cost homeowners $30.94 for every $100,000 of taxable assessed value (based on current conditions).

The funds will double the available staff to 4 firefighter/EMTs on duty 24/7. Meaning 2 staffed stations able to respond to calls. It will also be used to provide new fire turnout safety gear and cover maintenance costs on current apparatus.
-
Since the consolidation of Bayview and Athol Fire Departments in 1999, the voters have not approved any fire levies.

Yes, TFPD does receive funding from Impact Fees. However, this funding can only be used for the costs of future fire district facilities and apparatus equipment needed to maintain the district's current level of service. Impact Fees may NOT be used for personnel costs, the funding of any existing deficiencies of the district's facilities or apparatus or be expended on operations or maintenance expenses.

Yes, TFPD does apply for grants. Grants can provide temporary relief for capital equipment expenditures. Grants are not a regular source of revenue that we can budget for each year.
-
TFPD will continue operations, however, maintaining the quality and level of emergency services, as well as being able to cover apparatus maintenance costs may not be possible.
